How do you calculate the difference in levels on a topographical survey map?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.43 PM
How do I calculate the difference in finish floor level to terrain level when the only information I have is the terrain level and the building's ceiling height from finish floor level?, for example, the terrain level is stated as being 129.40m above sea level and the building's ceiling height from floor level is 2.42m, I'm just not quite sure how to get the level of the building's floor level.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You need to get back in touch with your architect.
He/she will have designed/used the 'topo' to allow for the height positioning of the building. Most plans should have a number stated on the floor layout with the FFl (finished floor level). With the use f this info you can the 'plus/minus' this from external topo figures, ceiling heights, roof heights etc.
Hopefully this has helped and you understand what to look for or ask for.

When the ground was surveyed they should have started with one point ( a datum ) this is where all calculations would be based from i.e. finish floor level (FFL ) to all drainage , landscaping, to road heights, on the drawing from the architect it will base every thing on this one single point , so FFL will have a number which relates to this , the ground levels outside will have numbers that all relate to this one point .
