Artex walls and ceilings

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.01 PM

Hi I’ve bought a house Victorian terraced and it has lots of artex most of which can be skimmed over, however there is a wall in the kitchen that I want knocked through and it has artex on it. I’ve had an asbestos person to look at it and he said it is most likely containing asbestos. What would a builder need to do in order to knock the wall through eg will the artex have to be removed first and if so how? Also one bedroom has artex on all walls and it has been wallpapered over (badly) is there a way to remove the wallpaper so that the walls can be skimmed? Advice appreciated. Thanks in advance Sally

If there is asbestos and you have a written report about it you need a qualified asbestos removal trader. Asbestos is not dangerous if stays where it is with no one bothering him. But if you have to touch it please call a qualified trader to do so.

There is apparently asbestos in artex which has been done before 1980 . Either way not really enuff to cause any harm .

If a report has been given showing there is a definite trace of asbestos then it will have to be fully removed by an approved company who will then issue a certificate. Once it has been removed the walls can then be treated and dealt with
