Removal of cement/adesive before laying tiles
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.23 PM
When floor tiles are removed is it then important to get all the cement or adesive removed as well which seems pretty hard to remove before laying a newly tiled floor? And what is the best way to remove this if even possible and what tool would be best? Thanks

A small breaker with a wide spade bit is generally the easiest way of removing them alternatively you could prime the floor with SBR and lay a self level compound over the top

If very uneven and smooth floor screed may make finished floor too
high, then a strong hammer drill that takes wide cold chisel bits
take your time use at an angle .

I would definitely remove old adhesive using my sds drill with wide chisel, check floor level , if needs levelling compound because floor is out of level then do so , or use alpha boards, if floor is ok , prime floor, and lay new tiles
