Unvented cylinder

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

I want to have an unvented cylinder installed do I need to change my open vented boiler or can I keep it and just get rid of the cold water tank that feeds my existing cylinder.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can keep your open vented boiler with an unvented cylinder. Just get rid of your main cold water storage cistern & keep the small F&E tank for the central heating circuit.

as above but make sure you have enough pressure and volume of water to support an unvented cylinder, and use a g3 registered plumber.

You can also keep your open vent boiler and remove f&e tank but must replace it with a robbo kit.

Check with the chosen cylinder manufacturer before making the changes. Some unvented cylinders are not compatible with open vented heating systems. The design of the primary coils in some unvented cylinder cause airlock problems and require unvented primary heat source
