Doorstep Paint Bubbling

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.43 PM

Hello. My doorstep is made from concrete, I believe it was first painted before it was fully set/dry. The paint on the top in the center of the step always bubbles and then flakes off. Is there any proper sealant that I can use so that when i apply the layer of doorstep paint it wont bubble again? Thanks for your help.

Hi. There is a product. Peel-stop, make zinsser. It works best if you can remove the peeling paint back to the concrete and apply. There are also some very good paints specifically for doorsteps available

personally i would recommend pliolite. a solvent based masonry paint. most diy masonry paints are water based and less expensive. assuming you are using masonry paint ? in any case, removing the existing paint back to the bare concrete and treating first with several coats of diluted pva (about 70% water to 30% pva) and allowing to dry thoroughly between coats before priming with a water based masonry finish then undercoating and glossing (if thats what your'e going for) or finishing with pliolite masonry paint. good luck.
