In England, can a DIY'er legally remove an electric shower?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.43 PM

I have an electric shower that I want to completely remove and replace with a thermostatic shower valve. Does the removal, disconnection of the supply cable at both ends and making safe strictly require a part P electrician, or notification etc?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You need to employ a fully qualified electrician with Part P to do this removal. As it will need to be disconnected from a 40amb breaker on the fuse board

"Legally" you can do whatever you want in your own home. Disconnection of any circuit does not require part p notification, only modification within zone 1 or installation of a new shower circuit would come under this. However if you want this work done safely it is a good idea to use a competent electrician.
