House my builder pour the right concrete
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.23 PM
Hello wondered if you could help. My builder 17 days ago has poured c25 for my single storey extension to the depth of 1000. The foundations now seems very soft. I have dug a few inches and it all to easy to as all crumbles. It's not grey, it more like a dark cream colour like sand. Had the builder come round today and he said it's fine. However in my experience concrete is grey and hard. Could you please advise what this means?

in my experience the colour may differ depending on the materials eg colour of sand used the curing time may be effected by temperature and other factors without looking at it personally its a hard question to answer for you I would recommend allowing more time to cure and then look into it more if you still feel it is not right concrete tests can be done if you still need peace of mind

C25 can be used for domestic footings but if its not set properly it appears there is a problem, after 17 days it should have cured sufficiently and not be crumbling. Lack of curing can mean a problem with temperature or lack of water at the time of pouring. I suggest you ask the supplier to test it.
