Sewer line to run inside or outside the house

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.23 PM

Hi, is it advisable to run the sewer line inside the house or outside? Previously we had our sewer line running outside the house but our new builder who is renovating our house has dug the sewer line that’s running from inside the living room area to the rear garden. What are the pros and cons associated with this? if there are any leaks in the future will this sewer be easily accessible, esp now that we will have underfloor heating as well? Please advise, MD

foul water pipe can be run in buildings ,however it has to be able to be cleared ,which usually happens from a manhole (inspection chamber) or a point on the pipework via a access plate .if it is under a floor there should be no problem as long as it is deep enough and covered with concrete

no problem running under house, just need a manhole for every bend in the sewer run the building inspector will have a look before the trench is filled in and will insure it meets all requirements

Any new sewer should be bedded on and covered with pea gravel and not just covered in concrete as has been suggested
