I’m doing a porch and a valve cover has been found under plant pot

Hi guys I’m about to do a porch and I’ve found a valve cover with valve under plant pot and it’s got segb on it what should I expect it to be gas or water ?

What you mean that this valve is outside in the ground, if it is gas I cant imagine that its still active as they stopped fitting external inline gas supply valves on domestic supplys a long time ago, isolators are now at meters, you will need to check if its still live, does the house have gas and is the supply to it in plastic.
