Combi boiler with mixer shower
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.47 PM
We have just moved into a house which has a combi boiler which was installed late 2016/early 2017. Since we have moved in, we have found that the shower (a standard mixer shower installed pre combi boiler) runs cold after a couple of minutes for around 30 seconds to a minute before warming back up again. As our boiler is under warranty we got Worcester Bosch to come out and check the boiler was ok. They confirmed it was and when testing all taps found that these ran hot consistently if required. When checking the boiler they noted that the blue light was not on for all the time the shower was and that this would go off and only come back on after the shower ran cold. The engineer advised that this is likely an issue with the shower mixer and it not pulling enough through quick enough. He advised that an electric shower or thermostatic mixer should resolve this. We were planning on replacing the shower anyway once in as it is pretty basic but do not have the electric connection currently to install an electric power shower. Based on the above should a thermostatic mixer shower solve the issue as we will be buying this online and require a plumber to fit this if so and do not want to spend loads only to find the issue persists after! Cheers in advance
