2 HETAS tradesmen, different answers, one says chimney is class 1 but I must have a liner for a woodburner the other says all I need is a good fitting registration plate why the difference

If your chimney is swept thoroughly and is in good condition following a smoke test and not letting POCs into property this is fine i would say...
I would need to see chimney stack and terminal..

If your existing liner, clay or whatever, is in good condition and has passed a PRESSURE TEST then generally no problems. However the industry would prefer at least a flex liner to be fitted in older properties for the good flow of gases and so proper integrity of the chimney is maintained.
