Maximum number of home systems that can be isolated?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.23 PM
Hi, Today I have just started my bathroom project. Firstly I removed all old systems and I have isolated my bath, old toilet and sink. (Everything has been removed). I have five isolations valves in this room which are all isolating the water simultaneously. Does it matter/ are there any risks with leaving the room empty for a couple of weeks whilst I start filing and for a new suite?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It should not be a problem if there is no chance the valve will be tampered with and the valve are not passing. for a piece of mind, you can buy Compression Fitting Blanking Disc's which would seal the end of the valves in the event that a valve did pass or was tampered with, not only that it would prevent any plaster or other debris from getting stuck in the valves while other work is being carried out.

There is no harm in having isolation on pipework, in a perfect world all outlets would have isolation valves.
If the bathroom is going to be empty for a few weeks I would consider blanking the open end of the isolation valve for two reasons, in case you get water passing through the service valve. Secondly so no grout, adhesive, plaster, etc gets into the isolation valve and blocks it. Hope this helps.
