How to check for pipe leaks

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

My combi boiler drops pressure and I have to refill it every 3-4 weeks. It happened twice in the past couple of months. I got it checked by the company that does maintenance and the guy said there isn’t any problem with the boiler and there might be a tiny leak somewhere that could be fixed with a liquid. This morning I checked the water meter before i left the house (12pm) and checked again when I came back (7pm). No changes, same number. Is it enough to think the problem is not a leak? And if not, what that could be?? I live in an old victorian house, if that would help.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

As said in the previous answer by DR Generally if its not the prv and the air pressure in the expansion vessel is correct it will be a leak and leak sealer will normally solve it. You can put a thin rubber glove over the end of the discharge pipe, leave it a day or so and then check to see if it has caught any water. if not remove it .
