Block and beam for tiling

Hello, I have a rear extension on my house which will be getting a concrete screed over insulation which is fine. I want to know what the best way is to do the existing house floor to make it strong? It’s a block and beam with 47mm polystyrene insulation and 22-25mm chip board. I want to know what would be a best way to make the floor strong enough to withstand some porcelain tiles? A tiler recommended taking it all up and using an insulation board but it’s a very costly way to do it so looking for a good alternative if anyone has any? :) Thanks

The best way it was insulation and screed over, you can fix 12mm WBP plywood in to the cheep board with wood glue and use 5'' fixing in to the floor max 400mm x 400mm centres.

i would remove the existing and replace with a 10mm high performance Celotex insulation then traditional screed as in my view the structural integrity & structural continuity of the installation is Paramount any loss of U,value from the insulation reduction in the existing property could be offset by up grading the insulation in the new extension or elsewhere in the property Best regards Hartwell Projects ltd

Remove the existing floor down to the beams. Insulate. Screed complete area. Then tile. Result problem free tiled floor
