Nest wiring to new central heating

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

We got a new boiler (Ideal Independent in case it's relevant) and a Nest thermostat. The engineers said I need a score wire when I'll wire the heat link from Nest, but I cannot seem to find anything with an online search for "score wire". I also appreciate you cannot use just any wire and cross-section matters depending on voltage etc so I didn't want to just buy any 3-core wire. Does anyone know about what is needed here and what cross-section or any other specifics I need to look out for? If you have any links even better. Many thanks!

Ok for a combi as asked. The professional way to do this is use 5 core wire (1mm)from boiler to heatlink. This is to connect e-n-l & common(2) call for heat (3) then to power the heatlink you will need three core wire (1mm) from fused spur to the heatlink. then you will have a choice 1. use the thermostat with a plug in stand (which is really nice and easy)this is so it is charged only as the thermostat operates wirelessly to connect to the heatlink. 2. use 0.5mm two core wire to connect to the heatlink (far right side) connect to the 12vdc and route the two core wire to wherever you want it to go and connect to the thermostat. 3. there is also open therm but only if your boiler is open therm compliant. then you will need to follow set up instructions on the thermostat.

You need a live/neutral/earth to your Boiler. Then two controls cables from your receiver to your Boiler. More info regarding model of Nest Product would be grateful to advise in more depth.
