Exterior painting - Do I need fungal wash and sealant?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.43 PM
Hi, I'm going to be undertaking the task of painting the exterior of my house. It's pebble dash that's in mostly good solid condition. My question is should I wash the walls beforehand with a fungal wash? There are a few darker/dirty patches in the corners but overall it all looks pretty clean. Washing it with a fungal wash and jetwashing is going to add 2 days to the job time. I'm planning on sealing everything with Sandtex before painting, will this be enough? Thanks!

Fungal wash and jet washing are preperation.
Preperation seperates jobs that last from jobs that don't

Wash it with the fungul wash where the area is dirty and Jet wash where needs doing.
Sealing the walls before painting would be good enough.

The two days you spend will save you lots of problems in the future, short term gain often ends in long term pain so bite the bullet and do the prep

Fungicidal wash is a good idea, especially where dirty, but I would not recommend jetwashing the pebbledash, unless you can do it at low pressure - the force of the water could loosen some of the stones.
