gas pipe installation around skitting board
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.46 PM
Hi. what should I expect when having new gas pipe installed and my freestanding cooker connected? Is it best for it to travel around the skirting board? (does it matter if it is above the skirting board; on the wall?) Should it be boxed in? Will I get a gas certificate or a document to highlight that it has passed safety tests/ builing regs/ part p (gas regs)?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The gas pipe should be suitably supported along its length it can either be fixed to wall or skirting board. Wherever it passes through a wall it should be sleeved. If the pipe is boxed in it may require ventilation depending on the cross sectional area of the boxing.
As for paper work there is no legal requirement to certify cooking appliances or the pipework supplying it, however I personally always supply an installation and commissioning certificate regardless.
Also your gas engineer should carry out all the appropriate tests for the new pipe work and commission the appliance as per the manufacturers instructions.
