Is there a minimum distance a gas cooker/hob needs to be away from wall-mounted boiler?

Hi all, I just purchased a flat in an ex-council building, and I'm looking to have the kitchen refitted. Right now the placement of appliances is a bit strange but I have the constraint of having two windows and a fire door in my kitchen. Right now my hob is about 45cm away from my wall mounted boiler (there's a socket right above the hob that I'm pretty sure is not compliant with today's regulations, but that's another story). I'd like to put the new hob where the current hob is, with an extractor on top of it. My question is - is there a minimum distance a gas hob/cooker needs to be away from a boiler? Or does the hob need to be repositioned? I'm very limited as to where else I can put it since further down is the fire door and on the other wall is the window. Please see this link for a picture of the current set up: https://ibb.co/pd8KZVZ Also, anyone know what that little rectangular recess is in the wall next to the boiler? Is that where perhaps a vent would have gone / is currently? And this might be a stupid question (forgive me) but do externally-ventilated hoods need to have a hole drilled in the wall? Typically for an ex-council flat you need separate planning permissions (not alterations permissions) to make changes to the outside of the building, but I read some council's don't require a separate planning application for small changes like external ventilation for a hood. Does anyone know if builders have liberty to make holes for extractor hoods? Thanks, Adi
