Unsightly varnished wood panelling and York stone in lounge
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.23 PM
Varnished wood panelling and multi coloured Yorkstone below I have a 26ft lounge with one entire wall covered in varnished wood panelling and multicoloured Yorkstone below and both look unsighty and very dated. What can I do to disguise them as they can't be removed because of the fear of not knowing the state of the walls behind them. Any ideas please.

If you don't want to tear it down you can build a fake wall in front of it using drywall.
Hope this helps.

The varnished wood can be rubbed down, primed undercoated and finished in a flat matt, soft sheen or even gloss finish in any colour imaginable, as for the yorkstone u can use masonry paint to contrast with the new paint on the wood.
All of this is relatively easy and cost effective to do, done correctly it would look nice...
