Unvented tank location - 3 storey house

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.01 PM

Hi, We're going to be fully renovating our 3 storey, 5 bedroom house and are at design stage with architect. Design likely to be bedrooms (plus ensuites) on top floor and ground floor, with kitchen-diner sandwiched in between on middle floor. The flow and pressure to the house is currently pretty poor so I'm planning on upgrading incoming mains to 32mm (the mains runs a metre in front of the house so should be an obvious job). My question is about where the unvented tank and boiler should be located in a ideal scenario? We can create a 'plant room' on any of the floors to hold tank and boiler, so would just like advice for best location for our initial plans. Thanks Phil

for ease of future maintenance somewhere on ground floor would be best.

The cylinder will work just as well on any floor, providing that your pressure is good enough. Other than that it’s really up to you, obviously it will take up a bit of space, so it’s where you feel you would prefer it. As long as there is plenty of room to perform any maintenance needed you should be fine.
