roof felt rotting at edges
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.22 PM
Whilst pressure washing fascias etc roofer said that roof felt was starting to rot (40) years old and suggested removing a layer of tiles and fitting tray which would mean any rain from roof would go into tray and then into gutter. Is this a good idea and approx how much would it cost. Two lengths of 30 feet involved.

Hi, yes this would be a good idea to have done as the tray is called a felt support tray and it does just that. They will sit under the felt and fix to the joists/rafters and allow the water to run into the guttering instead of behind it in really bad weather. I couldn't tell you a price unfortunately without assessing the work but you should get 2-3 quotes to be on the safe side...good luck finding the right person for the job

Felt support trays are a good idea at the gutter line but you may have to replace the first mtr of felt depending on how far up the roof its spread, personally I would not be pressure washing anything near or at the roof line.
Good luck Alex
