Brushed steel worktop edging strip

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.01 PM

Please advise if it is possible to remove this type of edging and succesfully install a new piece of edge strip? The strip appears to be made from a plastic material that has a metal finish. It relates to a Brand new worktop damaged by my installer who I have since sacked! I have spoken to wren kitchens who can supply a 5m long strip. Any advice would be appreciated please. Many Thanks.

Use plunge saw or router to cut/trim old edging off. Sand the cut edge with some sandpaper (stay away from very top/laminated edge), apply contact adhesive to both - cut and sanded worktop edge and precut piece of new edging, let the glue dry, use heat gun and reheat both surfaces until glue is tacky, apply edging to worktop, use mallet(optional) and lightly tap the just applied edging to the worktop, use trimmer with 1/4 collet flush cut router bit and go over all edges to remove excess edging. That's your edging done now. Good luck.
