UPVC multilock door is not being locked with Handles inside or outside
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.43 PM
Hi All, My UPVC multilock door is not being locked when i lift the handle from inside and outside. The lock is working ok with key but if I need to lock the door by pulling the handle upward, it is not locking the door as when i lower the handle from outside, it opens the door. When i pull the handle upward, all locking points seems to be working fine as they do come out but it should not open itself from outside. Can you please advise when could have gone wrong with the door or if it is an easy fix. Thanks,

Try removing the barrel, single screw holding it in place , replace it for a new one, I had similar issue with my pvc front door

Hi Michael
Just to be clear. I assume you are pulling up the handles and then locking the door with the key. Take out the lock cylinder and try it with the key from both ends. If it works okay then the problem is with the gearbox. A lot of multipoint gearboxes use cheap monkey metal for some of the internal components. New gearboxes are available from GemSec but you will need to show them the old one to get a match.

Your door latch is not fully catching . The outside handle only operates the MEC on a night latch feature, it's the key that operates the latch, all you need is the keep ( the part on the door frame that the latch goes into ) adjusting.
