Very noisy bathroom basin taps in newly installed system

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.22 PM

Just had a new bathroom installed. The shower we previously had was very good. But the shower pump was noisy. My wife was insistent that she wanted it removed. Plumber suggested replacing the tank with a pressurised tank. The new tank has two smaller tanks above it. But the basin taps are unbearingly noisy Noisier than the original shower pump. I'm 72 years old and have never experience such noisy taps anywhere. Can't understand because the newly installed system is essentially 'new build' Now I've paid the plumber in full he's just not interested in resolving the problem. Quite frankly the entire experience is and continues to be distressing. Any advice out there would be very gratefully received

Hi Bazza_27, Sorry to hear about your experience. It sounds very much like you may have something known as 'air hammer' in the system which is essentially trapped air that needs to be bled from the system. It should be the responsibility of your existing installer to come back and rectify this issue but if thats not possible then you should call out a local plumber. I hope this has been of some help to you. K. Blacklaws of Blacklaws Building

if its water hammer, this is caused by pipework not clipped properly, high pressure making ball valves judder, loose jumpers in stop cocks etc, get a qualified plumber to look at it.
