Hi, Having a good SPEC door will probably give you the acoustic min for a new build: Secured By Design FSC® Certified FD30 door certificate tested to BS476 Part 22 with intumescent seals Exceeds the required weight of 25kg/m2 Sound reducing specification that meets the acoustic targets of the Building Regulations Part E and related National Standards, 29dB. In an old apartment replacing like for like is sometimes ok, but must be approved my freeholder / Managing agent company with a possible LTA approval. I hope this helps.
