Removing wash hand basin to make space to install a dishwasher

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.22 PM

I am wanting to fit a new dishwasher in a pantry space where there is currently a wash hand basin which we no longer need. What pipework/ traps etc. need to be retained for the dishwasher? I'll probably post this as a job on My Builder but want to understand what work is involved.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi , The plumber will need a cold water supply and a waste pipe to connect to ,which you already have in place . Regards Stefan Price

hi suzanne, if its a fairly new dishwasher the chances are it will only need a cold water feed so you will need a washing machine valve fitted to the cold pipework, a cap fitted to the hot pipework as that will no longer be needed and then change the waste to have an 'upstand' or 'washing machine' trap fitted so you can fit your waste into that. thats very vague without looking at your pipework situation but hopefully that helps.
