Economy 7 circuit blowing all fuses when boiler starts charging... what is the cause ?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.22 PM

I have the following issue involving my boiler and my economy 7. My boiler (and storage heaters) charge at night on an economy 7 circuit. However, for the past few nights, at 11pm exactly (when it should starting heating), all fuses in my flat go off. I initially thought the boiler was faulty but if I use it during the day with the "boost" function, it heats up the water fine without blowing fuses. Therefore I believe there is an issue with my night electric circuit. The storage heaters work fine though, so I suppose it really is just the boiler circuit. For now I just turned off the boiler and boost every day for one hour. Any idea what this could be due to ?

could be a few things without coming over I would put it down to 1)boiler timer external short circuit 2)night heater broken 3)wiring fault from controller to boiler its a case of switching stuff off and seeing what blows the "fuses or mcbs or rcd" I would perform tests to see what the fault is as a professional but DIY its a case of one item on each night at a time till it trips then repeat that same "tripping item next night" to confirm long way of doing things so if not sure please just call an electrician to save the hassle and also to do a safety check as could be something serious! kind regards Joe
