Tv ariel repair
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.22 PM
We did not know that the outside tv ariel was leaking into the back of our led tv. Until we noticed the water behind the tv. Now the tv has just 1 different greyish stripe on the screen, which you can only see on a dark background, when the tv is turned on. I want to know can it be fixed as the tv is only just over 1yr old.

It sounds like rain has got into the cable, from the Aerial. The cable acts like a pipe and can suck water into it and drawn downwards with gravity. This could be the possible cause of your TV being damaged.
Maybe your Aerial is fine, but you might want to consider a better seal to the cable/aerial using self-amalgamating tape (about £2.50) or even go for a new cable altogether.
Pay around £80-£100 for a new cable or around £70-£120 for a complete aerial installation.

If water has got into the tv it will have caused issues.
The first thing to do is repair the cable feeding Tv and make it water tight. If this fixes it great !
If no it might be a case of claiming a new TV on your insurance policy ? If the Tv still has the fault when it is connected to DVD player.
£65 will get the cable water tight.
Kind regards
