Screed floor question
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.21 PM
Hello can anyone advise if after a floor is screed should you still see the membrane showing around the edges and all puckered in the corners, loose gravel bits on top and not level sloping down in places?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello there will be sight of membrane around edges but should be tidy. The corners should be same if there alot bundled up there will be soft spot in corners when final flooring is laid. All. Depends on finish and is there latex to be laid over the screed wich will amend these problem. All screed should be level unless falls are required.

Covering membrane can be difficult if an uneven finished floor level (ffL)in whatever corner place of area. The Coverage should be max 75mm 25mm miminum and no sign of membrane. Beneath membrane depending on material used would or should expose your protected shaped heating grid made either of hardbacker board, polystyrene, rubber, plastics etc. A grid which need to be sealed protected and set using a screed or latex for the final floor covering.
Just be careful in exposed membrane areas as these places can be bit springy spongy even after floors are layed
Hope this helps
