What tiles can be used to replace some missing? No one knows what they are made of!

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

I have lost 2 roof tiles off the back of my house and a ridge tile off my garage. 4 roofers have looked and none can say if my tiles are manufactured slate or asbestos. That the one broken ridge cannot be replaced alone as it's dry fix and needs a complete redo. Is that correct? The main roof has lost 2 tiles and I have been told once scaffolding is up (£800) that they can see IF they can find a suitable to replace it as mine are very thin and new tiles might not fit. Am I looking at a whole new roof because of 3 tiles total?

To be honest sounds like YOUR being fobbed of for what ever reason. Post your job on the site and get a local expert to have a look. Good luck Alex

All tiles can be accessed from either local roofing companies or reclaimed yards which would have a lot of different tiles in stock In most cases you can just replace 3 tiles without the rest of the roof Anyone who is an experienced roofer would be able to tell you which tiles/slates you have on your roof from the ground. Hope this helps you for future references Best of luck Global roofing
