Sandblasting or another alternative to clean bricks?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

We have a soft red bricks for the front face of our house and were wondering if it is safe to sandblast these and repoint to get a cleaner look. It's an old Edwardian house around 100 years old. I've seen sandblasting done on Victorian houses but usually to remove paint. What other alternatives are there? Our builder suggested a soft pressure washer and brush but wanted to get an independent opinion.

Sandblasting will most likely damage the bricks and if its a solid brick building no cavity. N.H.L. mortar should be used for the re pointing. Good luck Alex
