I want to seal off the side entrance to my house and create a front entrance by extending the front of my property. However, there is a gas meter on the external wall of the property, as well as an electric meter on the internal wall. What is the process to move these meters to another area of my house? Will the builder I commission to do the job take care of this?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Both a certified gas man and also a fully certified electrician will be able to safely relocate both. As long as everything is fully explained and there is enough allocated space in the new destination, good luck I truly hope you find the rite people

To move the Gas meter you have to contact SGN as they are the only people who can touch the Gas meter and not a registered gas engineer, the registered gas engineer will then reconnect the internal gas pipe back to the meter, and for the electric meter you should contact your energy provider.
Thanks Gerry.

The best Akron’s solution to this issue is to contact your electricity and gas providers, to request that they undertake the meter moving process, as they’re the owners of the meters and as such, are the only authorities authorised to touch this equipment. They will inevitably charge for this, but it’s better than a fine for allowing an unauthorised tradesman to do it. Regards, Joel
