Lead valley replaced heavy rain wet patches still appear

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

I had three damp patches at the top of an exterior and interior wall I called a roofer who said lead valley needed replacing in between my semi detached house. I had it done with a good company. However after heavy rain the patches have come back the very next month ! Where do I go from here.i don’t think the problem was the valley in the first place if it’s still wet in exactly the same spots.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

the valley may have had cracks in it, but it is your under felt that works as a secondary protection if it has failed then only replacing the valley will never work long term. good luck Alex

If the replacement of the valley hasnt solved your problem. The actual cause could be above the valley itself caused by either a cracked tile or even ridges. There are a few things it could be. I would recommend a second opinion to identify the actual cause. Hope this helps.

Sounds like the problem may well be above the valley, which would most likely be broken or missing tiles. Or the possibility that the new lead valley has been installed wrong.

Possibly not the right amount of cover on the lead valley or something is broken above it

More than likely it’s higher up the roof ie damaged ridge or tiles which would let water run down underneath tiles on the felt to valley area where the felt could of corroded or disintegrated so would advise getting it looked at higher up roof . hope this helps Best of luck Global roofing
