Expansion vessel or service valve fault

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

Hi we have a new system with cylinder and Vailent . we see water dripping through the open funnel tin dish under expansion vessel after about 5mins into hot water being demand being switch on, the water eventually drains out through the copper pipe into my side alley We have checked there is air in the expansion vessel so this does not seem to be a problem We are now wondering whether the 2 to 3 way service valve under expansion vessel has gone faulty there is no pressure gauge there either it is just a 3 way valve Some feedback has been that the Mains pressure from street over a 25mm blue pipe will cause another failure so we should look at reducing pressure from outside street cock slightly Can I get some advise on this please

Hello, The water leaks through the funnel (tundish) when the pressure within the tank is too high. This can either be caused by 1. Not enough air pressure in the white vessel 2. Not big enough air bubble in the tank (dependant on tank type) 3. Pressure reducing valve faulty and so not reducing the pressure. This should be looked at by a professional engineer (MUST HAVE SPECIAL QUALIFICATION). Check your engineers gas safe card, it will be noted on the back.
