Electrical

Moving electric charging point by 15 ft

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.22 PM

Can a regular electrician do the following job? I currently have an Electric Vehicle charger point which is fitted quite away from the driveway. it was done by previous owners of the house, so i dont know how good it is, I am looking for a quote to move the existing plug-in point close to the driveway. I would require some additional wiring to run from unit to rcd and meter and move the plug housing & Electrically test it for safety

As long as they hold the correct qualification for vehicle charging points. You can apply for funding for the government. ‘The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) provides grant funding of up to 75% towards the cost of installing electric vehicle charge points at domestic properties across the UK.’

Recent changes to the regulations restrict the use of PME earthing & the use of Specific RCDs suited for the proposed charging equipment. ALWAYS seek professional , competent advice to mitigate financial & safety risk.
