Low water pressure upstairs after installation of a new combi boiler

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.21 PM

Hi, I’m at my wits end here. Hope someone can give me some answers. I have had a replacement combi boiler from glow worm 24cxi to a Worcester greenatar 25i. Some pipes have been changed upgrading to a larger size only around the boiler. Having a combi for 15 years I’v never had any issues with water pressure to the upstairs sink and bath when the downstairs taps are in use. Since having this new combi boiler installed which is bigger and better in capacity and gives up to 10.1litres per minute comparing to the the glow worms 9.8l per min. I spoke to the main man of the company which in the first instance told me unfortunately with combi boilers that is an issue I will have. I explained I’v had a combi with no issues and could it be due to the installation of the boiler/pipes. He wasn’t very forthcoming and basically said he had to take my word for it that the previous boiler didn’t cause me water pressure issues and that he’s been in the business for 20yrs and has never come across this issue. He said to phone the boiler manufacturer and for them to look at it which I did and they said the boilers outlet is to heat and has nothing to do with water pressure. He then said he will come out and have a look check the cock tap which he did checked the water pressure at the sink and said there’s nothing he could do. He didn’t check the pressure from the taps upstairs, I feel he’s not taking responsibility and would like to be advised on what I can do. Could this be an installation issue, could it be due to the new pipe installed? Please advise if the engineer should have or could have done more as he did not check the pressure of my taps upstairs or check the new pipe installed or check for blockages etc. Could he have done anything else as I need to issue a formal complaint as I feel this might be a big job to put right and he’s not willing to fix it. I need to reiterate that this issue has only arises after the new boiler was installed. There had not been any issues with water flow or pressure. The pressure at kitchen sink tap was reading at 10.1l/m.

have you checked taps shower etc, some of them have filters in them they may be partially blocked and need cleaning, what was water pressure and volume at tap ?,if it was all ok before ,ask your water board if pressure has changed, your main stop cock may be blocked.

Hi, yes engineer who installed boiler should have or could have done more if he did not check pressure of taps upstairs or check the new pipe installed or check for blockages etc. as you said. if pressure was ok before should be ok now. if mans pressure is good combi's always work.
