Meter Movement - what's allowed and what isn't
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.22 PM
Hi All will be doing a full 2 bed flat renovation, and want to get the meters moved. Im seeing conflicting information that says the Meter supplier has to move them, but others saying an electric certified person can move electricity meter etc.... any clarity?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

hi all all meters belong to uk power net works / and they are the only ones allowed to move them. Officially any one found to tamper their equipment can be prosecuted.

The electric meter will have to be moved by your supplier as the anti tamper seals will have to be cut off and then resealed afterwards it is only registered electric meter fitters who can do this as special sealing pliers with a unique ID number are required.
Your gas meter can be relocated by a gas safe registered engineer with gas meters on ther registration the meter will need mounting either on a wall or a floor bracket and the pipe work will need adjusting to both sides of the meter to suit the new location.
