Is it possible to lay gravel directly onto concerte? What kind of preparation do I need to do before laying down my gravel directly onto the concerte walk way. It's the walk way going from my main gate to my my front door.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Good evening, I wouldn’t recommend placing gravel onto concrete, there wouldn’t be any drainage so when it rains puddles of water will form on top of the gravel and flood the area.

Really you would want to break up the concrete and have type 1 as a sub base. The Gravel will become in stable under foot as it would slide along the surface of the concrete being unsafe. Good point to use 20mm Gravel for driveways and paths. Hope this helps all the best The M.o.a.t Construction Team

There is nothing stopping you but in my opinion you would have to take a few things into account. Firstly has the rain water got somewhere to soak away as it's your path I would say yes. Secondly gravel is a free flowing material so if you don't have a thick enough layer you could end up feeling like you are walking on marbles.
