Which trade can fix external roof joinery?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.22 PM

Hi there, This is potentially a stupid question! We've just bought a house and on the survey it said: "There are damaged sections to the front and rear external roof joinery. Repair or replacement is needed." I'm not sure what external roof joinery is... is it best to get a roofer in for this or a joiner? Thanks Jo

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

An experienced roofer would be your best option. If for whatever reason they're not able to undertake the works they should be able to point you in the right direction of who can do the job.

A joiner will be required to repair or replace any damage to wood that is needed for the actual structure of the roof. And a roofer to do all the tiles, tile batons and felt, basically making it weather tight. There will need to be cooperation between the joiner and roofer as roof work has to be well timed to avoid bad weather.

Hi I would get a experience joiner in to see how much damage there is, the joiner would be able to undertake the job, a joiner can replace joists that need replacing, a joiner that has done roofing in the past can replace even a roof. A roofer man not be able to change joists.
