Laminate floor to carpet stairs
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.46 PM
I have installed laminate at the bottom of my stairs and unfortunately made it too snug where there is little to no expansion gap.. will the carpet fitter still be able to fit the carpet fine on stairs?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Your carpet fitter should be fine. However wooden flooring does like to move and a exspansion gap is really important I personally allow around 10 mm around all edges. You can still sort this with some kind of multi tool and trim where you need to. Hope this has helped

Fitting a carpet will not course any such problems. However if your laminate flooring is tight to the skirting boards this could be rectified skimming a slight trim around giving the wood room to breathe thus stopping the creak
