Plumbing

water tank - dripping from the water pipe

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.21 PM

Hello there! I noticed some dripping from the hot water tank. I called a plumber and he said it is a pressure valve. He change it but it is still dripping. No change. The lad took £120 and when he finished the job, he said that it is gonna be dripping anyway. If I know this before, I have called someone else. I want to stop the dripping. I have a water meter and I do not think the new pressure valve is the problem. Can someone help? Thank you Edit question I have noticed that The Economy 7 meter is not working. I have no heating of hot water during the night. Boost button is working, but my water is after the "heating" of the tank at night cold and I need to use the boost button. It happended after the plumber change the ptessure valve. Could it be just coincidence or did he do something with it somehow?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

is this an unvented cylinder ?if so he must be g3 registered to work on it,temperature and pressure relief valves are a safety devices,if it is still dripping, get a g3 unvented plumber in to check it out,if other plumber not g3 report him to trading standards at local council.check he has not disconnected heater/altered timer, has dripping stopped, immersion heater may have been faulty allowing water in cylinder to overheat, lifting temperature relief valve (between 90c and 95c depending on make) economy seven unit may have burnt out and need replacing.as db plumbing says it would be best to check expansion vessel as well.

As per D&R plumbing he is correct in what he says however it may well be the expansion vessel that is discharging and not the PRV based on the fact you still have the problem.
