Cutting a pipe with water in and not spilling a drop !

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

"We have a waste pipe that has barely any fall on it. There is hardly any room for manouver. We want to cut the pipe and replace it with as much fall as we can. HOW do you cut a pipe with laying water in without flooding the place. May only be couple of pints in there but smells nasty."

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You could try useing a wet and dry hoover to catch the water when you cut it and suck any dirt that is in there stop it spilling everywhere.

Hi, Drill a hole in the area where you are going to cut the pipe and drain it in a slow controlled fashion into a bucket or container. Not the nicest of jobs but can be done without much mess if you drill a small enough hole. * The hole may block from time to time but just keep clearing it. The waste pipe will drain eventually allowing you to cut it with minimal spillage ! As the other poster has said, a wet vac would be ideal to suck up the water once the pipe was cut or drilled. Hope this helps Regards BCA
