Belfast Sink Installation and hairline cracks

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

Our plumber just fitted our new Belfast Sink which we purchased in October. When the sink arrived we checked for any faults etc. No issues at all. On Friday our plumber fitted the sink. After he left we noticed we had a hairline crack the length of the sink and one of the taps was leaking. We contacted the plumber and he said that the sink is faulty and we should go back to the retailer. he tightened the tap and left. So why has the sink suddenly got a hairline crack ! I will have a look for any visible signs of damage and if there are none. I will accept your explanation. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to respond to my query.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Possible manufactures fault, sometimes there will be a fault within the casting and this sometimes appears with handling the sink and installing, if there are no visible signs that the sink has been damaged in any way then I would say its a manufacturing issue.
