one switch for 2 lights

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.22 PM

Two small bedrooms were knocked into one and now the room has two lights operated by their own switch. One switch is by the door as it should be and is the one to operate both lights. The other switch is mid wall where the door has been blocked off and to be made redundant. The ceiling roses are loop in wiring and mid circuit. In order to operate the two lights from one switch can it be done simply by taking the redundant switch wire to the other ceiling rose and connecting it to the present switch terminals in the ceiling rose? After thought : would it make more sense to run the redundant switch cable to a junction box and join it to the switch by the door cable as this accessible to do in the loft?

The switch that is no longer needed, the cable needs removing from the ceiling rose (switch wire) then a link wire needs connecting between both ceiling roses to the switched live, neutral & earth then everthing should be ok. i hope this helps, kind regards

Yes, this is possible, however nimble fingers will be required to fit the conductors in the ceiling rose terminals.
