Replacing dormer windows

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

Hi, I am looking at purchasing a house that needs plenty of work. One of the issues is the 6 dormer windows that all need replacing. They are all gable dormers. Can anyone advise if replacing dormers is a relatively straight forward job

Hi Anthony, There are a few factors involved when replacing windows. The finish on the outside may be affected, so replacement cladding may be required, or render repaired if the old windows are troublesome to be removed. Like wise on the inside the plaster/tiles will need extra care not to be damaged. Saying this if your house needs a lot of work then I assume you will be ok with fixing any damage. The height/location will also affect the time spent per window. An easier scenerio may be the existing windows are old upvc, screwed into timber frame. Sometimes timber windows are easier to remove though ! It's hard to give an exact answer with out looking at the job but I hope I've helped a little bit anyway :)
