Install new doorbell wiring and transformer

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

We have just purchased a Ring Pro Doorbell to replace our existing wireless Friedland doorbell. I’ve taken the wireless doorbell off the front door wall and noticed old original doorbell wiring that’s been snipped off. We do not have any internal chime boxes as the Friedland units were battery powered, so I have no idea how the wire is routed through the house. I’ve taken the front cover off the consumer unit to take a look for the transformer but it is definitely not in there. I’m now at a bit of a loss on how to find/correct the wiring. I’m thinking it could be time to write off the existing wiring and simply install the new VAC transformer that’s supplied with the new Ring doorbell and try to lay new cable (Our garage is on the side of our front door where the cable is going so fairly easy to lay I believe). FYI our house is 17 years old. Any advice would be great

Hello mate, if you can't see no internal bell box I would give up on the old wiring as where the old bell box was the cable has probably been cut off that side too and fillered and painted over so you'll never find it. Put the ring transformer in your garage job done.
