Height of fence over decking

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.45 PM

Recently i have put a new decking on the bottom of the garden and new fence. Garden ground is on the slope. Combined height of the fence with decking platform is 2.4 m. and does not exceed 2.5 m.(by legislation), but i have issue with neighbor she wants fence to be cut to 6 feet and she is not happy. Please help me with more info. Thank you

The maximum permitted fence height above ground level without planning permission in 2 meters, use to be 7ft but it is now 2m unless you are next to a highway where it is 1m due to sight lines from vehicles. see the planning regulations on the Gov web site at https://www.planningni.gov.uk/index/.../advice_home_fences.htm Hope this helps Pete at Fences Ltd

2.0m is max (as a rule) BUT I can tell you most councils won’t care 1 bit! Unless it’s next to their window or causing a nuisance I wouldn’t do anything.. time is a great healer 👍

A garden fence should be no more than 6' high. You are allowed to attach trellis above this.
