Repairing part of existing lounge ceiling

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.21 PM

Following a leak, a small part of the lounge ceiling is damaged. Can this part be replaced and matched to the existing artexed ceiling please

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

the part could be fixed although it would be very hard to mach in the pattern and unfortunately you would always see the patch repair, my advise would be to re-do the whole area to ensure a neat/uniform finish.

The damaged area can be removed and repaired, depending on the pattern of Artex some can be matched, others would always catch your eye., a patch is exactly that a patch.

The best thing to do would be to cut out the damp section, overboard and skim the whole ceiling for a smooth finish, unfortunately unless you do this the patch will always be noticeable.

Patching up most artex patterns is always tricky , I'd cut the patch out and re-board the whole ceiling as artex may have become unstable around the area where the water damage occurred Better to be safe than sorry
