Painting thin coat silicone render

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.22 PM

I have had a long garden wall rendered last year with white textured thin coat silicone render and would like to know the best paint to use to refresh it this year. The render is breathable and so would I need to use a breathable masonry paint?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, if it is a white coloured thin coat silicone render system and it is only 1 year old, it shouldn't really need painting. If it is starting to pick up streaks or growth, try a cleaning it with a low pressure, pressure washer & fungicide or cleaning with hypo. If you have to coat it, I would suggest using a highly breathable hydrophobic coating. I personally use ProPerla.
