Should sunlight show through roof tiles onto the breathable membrane?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.20 PM
I've just had my bungalow roof relined and retiled, after the old tar liner perished, and leaky tiles were causing water ingress. The roofer fitted a new breathable liner, and re-used most of the old clay tiles, replacing ones that were unserviceable. However, when I went in my loft, in the darkness lots of small splashes of sunlight were showing on the liner. The sun was low in the sky, so the sun was angling in underneath the edges and corners of the tiles. Is this acceptable, or will it start to degrade the liner, or let water leak in when the rain comes in horizontally on a windy day? I'd appreciate if anyone could let me know if this is normal, or I'll ask the roofer to have another look at it. Thanks.
